The air has cleared here now. I was surprised the smoke made it to the centre of France. I had to check on https://intentanalytics.fr/feux/carte to make sure it wasn't local. ( That is a good site to see where the fires are, by the way.)
We were going to relocate to the bassin area where they've been evacuated. Some houses we viewed last month are now in the thick of it. I hope the home owners are all right.
Ironically, the estate agent commented that the pine trees in the area were highly flammable.
Sadly we've dropped the area in our search.
I wonder where all the people are being evacuated to? There are so many of them.

Thanks for the link, Naylor's Ark - it's more realistic showing the active areas rather than a blanket cover as if the whole area is on fire. There are currently about 10,000 people at the exhibition centre on the north side of Bordeaux. There have been loads of appeals for help in accommodating people. The logistics must be a nightmare.

My granddaughter works in the area on a holiday home site which has been allocated for evacuees. This is her weekend off so she's up at her parents 250k away.

It surely must have been deliberate - in the middle of tbe night, letting fireworks off; maybe they were drunk, but that couldn’t possibly be used as excuse! Stupid, stupid people!

We're going down to Bordeaux early tomorrow morning en renfort. Never been there before and didn't imagine it would be in such circumstances. Not sure what we'll be doing but we're taking an ambulance and another vehicle. We've got plenty of FFP2 masks !
