Interesting - Zamour is also struggling - so Les Republicains (sp?) (or whatever they are called this week) will be the sole right-of-centre party.

Not sure it is good for democracy - but that is another issue.

In which case my choice will be easy. A politician who puts Oradour-sur-Glane in the wrong département whilst using the village to make a point can hardly be relied upon to master her brief. Bit like Hollande, who mixed up China and Japan.

In fact Le Pen, Pécresse and Zemmour have been neck-and neck in the polls, disputing 2nd place.
But the fragmented Left could lift the trophy if its various candidates put aside personal ambition and amalgamated - as the dreadful Taubira suggested - espousing the Green cause and candidate in the process. No chance, ergo no hope.
