My affinities are with Scotland - but they were lucky to win with England dominating the match until they lost the plot. A win is a win.

I agree but as things seem to stand neither look to be a major danger to Wales or Ireland. The problem will be that France widely considered as favourite will have little to demonstrate that tomorrow, although they could destroy the impression.

Ireland did indeed play well, but imo Wales really suffered from the absence of Wyn Jobes et al. At least the match was more entertaining than the aerial ping-pong at Murrayfield (well done Scotland!)

Well after 20 minutes my fear that France might give the 6 nations hopes away was beginning to look like a Nostradamus moment. Thankfully they pulled themselves together. I was impressed however that the Italians managed to play the full 80minutes where in the past they have tended to fade mid-way through the second half.

Re: Swing Low, it has been popular for as long as I can remember - partially at least because of the ability to provide actions throughout the song.

However you do have to feel for the English. The other nations have their own individual national songs. What has England got?

Bl**dy Jerusalem!!

@ exile: I agree, the Italians imprssed and if they can improve their line-out, they'll start winning matches. The final score flattered the French I thought.
Next week's matches might throw up some surprises.

I thought the sight of 140kg Italian front row in tears during their anthem tells you all you need to know about the 6 Nations.

Italy aren't the best team but they do have the best national anthem - it's like a mini opera

When I go to test matches I confuse everyone around me by singing both anthems (except the English dirge).
