All spruced up....
It appears that the spruce is edible and my Norwegian spruce or is it a black spruce? Has sprouted edible cones. They don't taste like much I shall make some tea with thepine needles later as it is all good against flu ( they say).

I’ve not seen one of those before. At first glance it looks like a sweet little punk hedgehog!

While on about strange foods, while watching I think "James Martin" the guest chef used some dried seed heads off of a "Ryus Typhina" Staghorn Sumach it was used like a spice, didnt say what it tasted like, may try it later on

I think this is Sumac (aka Sumak). It has a lemony tang to it.

Thanks for that Spectrum, Mrs PE has been wondering about sumac spice in some of her recipe books and as we have a couple of these trees coming along, we will definitely try it. We know them as Fluweelboom (velvet tree) had them in Holland but never got around to the food side as sumac spice is available in Holland but not here (that we have seen).
PS. Sumach is the German version.

i find it a bit richy

When he first appeared on the politcal scene I kept referring to him as 'Sushi' and now it's kinda stuck!
