Who got the last maugein?

#1 Post by Polarengineer »

Maugein accordions go into liquidation. Very sad for Tulle in Correze, but the last one will be delivered on Monday. Who is the lucky client? It will be worth a lot more than what was paid for it.

Who got the last maugein?

Very sad news, they were nice accordions. My first chromatic button accordion was a Maugein which I only sold at the time to get a lighter box.
I wouldn't have chosen a Maugein melodeon though, there are better Italian makes and if any of their parts are Chinese-made, quality control is very strict. Maugein prided themselves on making everything themselves so they were not cheap-end accordions !

Some of the Chinese boxes are utter rubbish and aimed at the cheaper end of the market. The fault perhaps lies as much as anything down to bad quality control like so much Chinese-made stuff. They should have followed the Japanese concept of taking the best instrument and doing as near to an exact copy as possible, which would include quality. You only have to look at Yamaha concert pianos to see where China has gone wrong !
