nothing to do with an overloaded grid in France (not like NL). This is EDF saying that there are still red days left over and you are going to get them come high water or elsewhere.

Was it ever about overloading the grid? I thought it was simply that forecast demand was likely to exceed generation capacity.
As to taking it come what may, does this avoid:
import of supply
or more likely
ability to take generation facility off line and perhaps do some minor maintenance

I can’t imagine the generating capacity is so tight that they have to rely on the few Tempo contracts to be able to shut down a unit for maintenance. Nah, This is simply - if you don’t like it, you shouldn’t have joined.

Not on its own of course but if you have a number of stations running below full capacity, then taking out the Tempo users may just give them the operational flexibility needed.

The remaining two red days will be next Monday and Tuesday. Saturday will be white and Sunday blue. This means Edf have missed out on six white days. More importantly, they have not used the last ten r3d days wisely but this is just an unlucky spell of mild weather. It has probably saved me 10 or 20€ compared with a winter with many very cold periods. May be they will get us next year.

White days can be any day except sunday, all year round, although they are usually used up during the winter months.Trelawney wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2026 10:29 pm The remaining two red days will be next Monday and Tuesday. Thanks for that clarification, I must read the rules again more closely and not rely on my deteriorating memory. It is the red days that are the killers: white days we can deal with without much suffering but we will keep alert as to where they will be used. I have grown accustomed to seeing red and white all being used up in the usual winter months

I don't have Tempo but here today and through to Easter will be about as cold as we have had regarding day time max temperatures. Here at least red days would make sense.

Don't worry, I thought exactly the same as you, until I looked it up the other day, and we have had tempo for about 5 years.Trelawney wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2026 9:14 am Thanks for that clarification, I must read the rules again more closely and not rely on my deteriorating memory. Well done Widge, I tried to find the rules on the EDF website, but like most French sites, totally illogical.
