I’m obviously ignorant and don’t understand the bigger picture but why the heck am I paying 10% more as of this month?
Diesel's gone up again and the supermarket wanted five euros for a cabbage last week, who in their right minds would pay five euros for a blasted cabbage.
It has been announced the regulated EDF electricity prices will increase from 1 Feb 2024. The next increase will be Feb 2025 rather than Aug 2024.
The base rate will increase by 8.6%, the heures pleines/creuses by 9.6% and I think I've seen mention of the Tempo by 10.1%.
I assume the other electricity supply companies will make some tariff changes as well?
Our Winter bill is considerably higher than last year. And we keep the electric heaters (the few we turn on) at 13 during the day. It is often 11 degrees in our living room when we rise in the morning. Wood burner warms it up very quickly, but we don't normally start that until after lunch.
I can recommend Decathlon's 500 and 900 level ski clothes.

I recommend a tog 15 duvet. And leave it only for meals and toilet events.
Very funny !
Our duvet is actually very warm. That is the only way we could tolerate a bedroom at 10 degrees !! However, as you say, leaving it provokes shivers and the toilet seat is icy cold.
Our condencing propane boiler which I installed is very cheap to run and the woodburner which we use very rarely now, twice this winter so far when it was 4cast to be minus 5c, we keep the lounge at about 19c but can't stand the bedroom higher than 15c, having rad thermostats.
And Lori, one good thing about having a pointer instead of a sitdowner is it doesn't matter how cold the seat is.

Too true !
Bit hit & miss in the dark though.
Ah but I always use a torch as turning on the light buggers up my sleeping rhythm.
