lead flashing

#11 Post by RobertArthur »

Hotrodder: worst case scenario before selling an old house is the Fukushima type of approach. Quote from this source:

2 types of work to eradicate the risk linked to the presence of lead:

1/ palliative work to eliminate the risk of exposure to lead. In this case, the lead-containing coatings remain in place but are confined. For example, a covering such as vinyl or fibreglass wallpaper, plasterboard, panelling, false ceiling, etc. can be installed;
2/ total renovation work consisting of replacing damaged elements (skirting boards, doors, windows, etc.) or stripping the surfaces. Final works remain the only solution to definitively eradicate lead. Whatever technique is used, a specialised company must be called in to avoid the dispersion of lead-containing dust that is harmful to everyone.
