I don't know where he gets it from, but our local feed merchant who also sells heating fuel has coal as well - we buy it occasionally.

People need to be careful when using coal in a woodburner. Some are classed as suitable, some are not. The higher heat of the burning coal can distort or crack the burner walls and grate.

We've got a special grate in our cuisiniere for coal, which has to be removed and changed when burning wood.

Ive just ( hopefully) sourced my firewood for the poêle for next winter.
We only use the poêle. I haven’t switched any radiators on this winter.
More expensive than I paid this year but I’ve had such an unreliable supplier that frankly I don’t much care.
I paid 67€ a stere for 50cm cut ‘oak’ but it was a right mish mash and I can tell the difference now. The next seasons lot from a different guy is 80€ for 50 cm cut oak delivered and he assures me it is 3 years old. I’m hopeful.

If it's oak & there's 3 steres to the cord in your neck of the woods that's a reasonable price.
I don't buy wood as we have have our own trees but my part time woodsman pal who helps me for a share tells me he sells chestnut for about €220 a cord.
We have some oak which I keep for myself as being one of the hardwoods it burns much slower.
