Does anyone know what the upper age limits for renting cars might be in different European countries, svp?

And judging by comments from those taking their model railway layout to exhibitions it is 70 for vans in the UK.

It also seems to depend on the car rental companies and their age restrictions.

On the site below (chosen at random in Google) there was a box ticked saying 26-69 for the age of the renter - so I unticked the box and a notice came up saying that 'des frais supplémentaires seront appliqués' and a box to put in your age.

It's also down to the cost of insurance for older drivers.
Our insurance company said the number of claims from "elderly" camping car owners was huge - hardly surprising when you consider that many of them have never driven anything larger than a car for most of their lives ...

Do you mean am I a modeller? In which case yes.
Or do you mean which modellers have been denied van hire in the UK due to their age? In which case I am a member of a UK modellers' forum and it is a frequent comment that exhibitors find it difficult or impossible to hire a van over the age of 70. This to the point where some have commented that as they approach 70, this will be the last time that their layout will be displayed.
