Or perhaps they are paying off the interest on loans leveraged onto the company's books.

Not sure about the product shrinking, but bought some broccoli today from Intermarché. It used to be 99cents for a large "stalk" for the last few years. €3.50 today. Zero stock in Lidl or Aldi.

I assume there was a bad crop this year due to weather?

Before all the "grow your own, it's cheaper" comments....some of us work away from home a fair bit of time, so that's out of the question anymore.

I love this healthy eating....sooo much cheaper than Mc Doos!

Haven't seen broccoli for what seems like ages round here. Finally out today and picked up 500g (very fresh) at Lidl (1,99€ - not the greatest price, but we wanted some). Then stopped in Aldi where 500g were 1,19€ ! Also very fresh. Bought two.

I bought broccoli on Sunday at our local Ă©picerie (2 doors away), for less than a Euro.

On this subject, I don't think the product has shrunk, but the price has nearly trebled - Gaviscon Sachets. There doesn't seem to be a cheaper alternative, but it's now just over 11€ for a box of 24 sachets. Not many months ago it was just under 4€! They're now called GavisgoNell, like that's supposed to mean something!
