Lovely shots both of you.
I remember when we first moved over here and I saw a family of them in our garden - I thought someone had lost some parrots as I'd never seen one before.

Is that infinite patience, long lenses or a hide?
Whichever very nice both of you.

Looking out of the window, seeing the woodpecker, and going to get a camera which already had a 75-300mm telephoto zoom. Nothing planned.

Re: Green woodpeckers
Very nice pictures. Twenty years ago I saw one walking around and moving with little steps when I looked out of our kitchen window. No camera ready, but he/she reminded me of Woody Woodpecker. The animation guys must have been observing these amazing birds in nature before going to their production desks. I don't know too much about forestry, but I've got the feeling that where we live we need a lot of these creatures. Can we get a little of help, dear Woody? They are destroying complete forests around us. Tree felling is one thing, but is there an obligatory reforestation here in France? It makes me sad to see this along the side of roads. To be exported to China and return as cheap, disposable IKEA furniture?

FranceRobertArthur has managed its forests for ever, its got some of the best in Europe, they always plant as or before cutting down.
