A very poorly deer is tottering around near the house.
It curled up for a nap earlier on right outside our kitchen door. It has been nibbling weeds here and there. Looks quite muscle wasted.
It has been a long dry summer so perhaps it’s just underfed but I’m not sure.

I've heard that muscle wasting disease can be a problem with deer, and it sounds more likely than not getting enough to eat. Sadly nature will probably take its course ....

Do you have a contact number for your local chasse, @Headers? If they're worth their salt they'll come round and put it out of it's misery quickly and humanely. That's part of their 'job'.

I was having a walk around the field with Rocky (dog) and noticed movement in the far corner. A large deer was grazing. He spotted us and bolted. Rocky just looked on in wonder...........as did I. Nice to see one not fleeing from the chasse for a change.
