We had a very wet spring, though not particularly cold. I'm sure it must be entirely down to the weather though. Much of our land is oak woodland so we've got used to crunching through millions of acorns over the years. Even so, It wasn't until a couple of days ago I noticed we have none at all.
It's a real relief because another occasional oak phenomenon is the mass germination in the early summer when the ground turns that wonderful shade of pink created by new oak leaves. But it means there are 100s baby seedlings per m3 - which is a huge problem. For the time being, we have more than enough oak trees of all ages, so can do without more.

I suspect the late frosts in parts of the country are to blame.
We don't have oaks in the immediate vicinity but our stone fruit trees produced almost nothing at all due to the frosts. A handful of cherries and that was it.
I would think those same frosts would have killed off the oak flowers in the same way.
