Saying goodbye

#21 Post by Veem »

Blaze I feel sure you will remember that we adopted Blaze and Blitz, 2 Lab x Border Collie brothers in 2010. Tragically Blitz died far too young after a freak accident in the woods in 2013. We lost Blaze two years ago. Blitz is buried in the garden and one day soon, when the time is right we'll scatter Blaze in the same spot with his brother. It tore us apart to lose them, but we still very much cherish the memories of happy times with those two wonderful dogs. Your memories of Sweep and Bimbo will give you great joy for many years to come. Beautiful dogs, both of them. xx

Yes, Veem, I do remember Blaze and Blitz ..... I can only imagine how you felt losing them. Our Blaze (Border Collie) was 15 when he went. He and Callie, also a BC are buried in the garden at our old place, along with Rona the cat who was 19 ..... All our animals have been long-lived except my first BC, Loki who was 6 and sadly had Hodgkins Lymphoma :( So desperately sad to lose them young ....
But the happy memories are always with us, their special characters .... I have them as my desktop photos so I can talk to them every day :D

How do people live without at least one dog in the house?

So sorry about your darling dog Blaze. I've never had a dog but I can imagine the pain on losing any pet. It leaves a big hole in your heart. I've had many cats over the years and they have always given me love and affection. Given that cats are not pack animals, their devotion is even more special. They've all been different. One always met me half way on my walk home from work, another would always jump on the bed and rub noses with me before I went to sleep. And another even played fetch with a small ball. All creatures are special. You get back what you put in.
