We're having to give one of our cats a course of tablets, she's normally a bit grumpy. Second one today, OH holding her I open her jaw and stick my finger there to hold it open with one hand and pop the tablet in with the other.

Didn't work this time, she spat it out after swallowing. Hey ho, went to pick the tablet up and she pushed my hand out of the way, picked the tablet up and proceeded to eat it.
She then looked at me as if to say, next time you want me to take a tablet just give it to me instead of trying to ram it down my throat, it'll save both of us a lot of agro.

It does help if you have a sympathetic vet who tells you which tablets are known to be accepted as eatable by the poorly cat.
Avoids all the aggro ..

Pffft try telling mine that they're secable! They can detect a speck of pill in a chunk of sardine or pâté at 500m I've developed a technique of administering things smeared with butter while they're half asleep

Fortunately, I haven't had to give my tiger any pills for years. I'd risk amputation...

Got a pill popper here in 86, from the vet. Easy to use, and never had a pill spat out.
