Does anyone have the knowledge about returning to the UK with a dog after 5 days holiday, is it right that they just have to go to the vet for a tapeworm pill.

I presume the people who own the dog had to follow the rules laid down to bring it into France, so surely said documentation lays down the procedure for return? Other than that, I suggest they go to the Vet and ask.

Vets often will not know unless they have regular clients going to the UK. I had to advise our previous vet.
Requirements
Proof of rabies vaccination less than one year old and more than 21 days shown in their pet passport.
Dog must be microchipped and that chip number shown in the passport.
Tapeworm treatment certified as being no less than 24 hours before arrival and no more than 120 hrs before arrival.

Thank you Exile, I will pass that info on to my granddaughter, "before" she comes out with the dog in a few weeks time, she reckons that her vet in the UK is sorting it all out but there is bound to be a hiccup, I doubt the dog has ever had a rabies jab, personally I don't see the need to cart the dog out here, he has mobility problems and runs around with his back legs on wheels.

Now that may be an issue - unless the rules have changed.
Normally the dog has to be chipped, have a vaccination followed by a blood antibody test some while after.

That is my understanding as well. Test 21 days or more after vaccination - and a significant proportion fail the test and have to be vaccinated a second time and then wait another 21 days for a (hopefully) positive test.

There has been a whisper that the dog might not be coming now as it has suddenly dawned on the granddaughter that it is going to work out to stupid money to bring him, fingers crossed.
