Possible new dog
We had a border collie/english setter cross and he stole our hearts. He was called Jacques but we later felt we should have called him Rupert as he had a real air and look of a Civil War cavalier about him.
Jacques was our second collie type, the first being a pure brown and white Wicklow Collie. The two never really got on and pretty much lived their own lives never playing together but, for the most part, tolerant of one another. There were very, very few instances of aggression despite both being in a dog display team with the highly charged atmosphere and excitement that went with that.
In short, and as you know, collie types are intelligent and learn and comply with ground rules quickly. Experienced dog owners provide those rules and, consequently, dogs and people know what's what. Even attention for existing and new dogs is a golden rule. So that's the worst case scenario and in truth, it is not too bad. The alternative is two dogs that get on famously and ruff and tumble the whole day - that's not too bad either.

Possible new dog
We've just come back from the vet who says it takes up to 3 weeks for the kennel cough vaccine to be effective, and that a RDV with Pipo next Monday is too soon 
We'd noticed Rafal sneezing and snuffling a bit since we collected him from the kennels last Saturday and the vet thinks he picked something up there. His advice was to avoid mixing with other dogs for 10 days
As the SPA don't take reservations - first come, first serve - perhaps it's not meant to be this time. If he's taken by someone who doesn't have another dog, the cough won't be a problem. We didn't actually see any signs of it but then he's on medication ... The most important thing is that he finds a good home and if it's not meant to be with us, that's not a problem.
