On her way out to walk the mutt this morning Mme LAF mentioned that the cat was showing a lot of interest in one of the lounge settees & probably had brought in & lost a mouse.
A while later the cat was still watching the settee so I decided to lift it to see if there was a mouse hiding under it.
As I lifted the back of the heavy settee the front feet slid away on the tiled floor & slipped out of my grip just as the cat shot under & the thing dropped with what I was sure was a crunching sound.
"Bugger !, I've squashed the cat" I thought, "how am I going to explain that to the missus?" just as it appeared under the dining table chasing the mouse.
Never been so happy to see Mme Mogg with a mouse in the house.
