This was departure time, anything interesting going on in the garden? Just enough headroom to sit. The rest of the many hours he sleeps, more than enough headroom.

Perfectly OK to take it to the vet though, it's what we use.

Perfectly OK for a longish trip. As said they will just settle down and sleep for the majority of the journey. Even an airfreight crate is not much bigger.
In days of yore we transported 4 cats and 4 kittens in the car between the Southern bit of France and Germany on a regular basis.

The cat gets more: Length×Width×Height = 45 cm x 31 cm x 30 cm.

@ Lori and Suein56, may I compliment you both on your keen eyesight. But I'm afraid my picture was an optical illusion. The explanation can be found in the car technology of 20 years ago, the invention of the split tailgate.
