UK Class 3 NI - tax deductable?

#1 Post by niemeyjt »

Hypothetical question (at this stage)

If you make UK class 3 UK NI payments are these deductible on your French Tax return?

TIA

I don't know the answer but are Class 3 the voluntary payments to secure your "years" or are they the (extortionate) self-employed stamps?
Your hôtel des impôts should be able to answer definitively.

Yes - Class 3 is a way of buying missing years - and is voluntary. https://www.gov.uk/pay-voluntary-class- ... -insurance

For those entitled to a UK state pension, you can get a statement from https://www.gov.uk/check-state-pension

This will give you the current and potential projected pension you can claim.

Buying the extra years, where possible, mostly costs £15.85 per week apart from the past two years which are a tad cheaper.

Right. I still think you should talk to an inspector of taxes or a good accountant - there has been case law about paying NI/SS contributions twice over the last few years.
