I've just had an email from Amelie. Something about updating my Carte Vitale. I've never done it in the 20 years I've had one. Any idea what is involved? It says I can do it at a pharmacy.

Probably a scam.
Every time you visit your doc/chemist it'll be updated so unless you've been in perfect health it'll have been done.
Any doubts you can ask your chemist or even the mairie to do it.
Don't click on any links.

I don't think this one is a scam as they are saying update at a 'pharmacy' We have always had to update our cards yearly at the pharmacy or CPAM office. We do it when our new attestation for our yearly top up insurance comes through. We just walk in to the pharmacy produce our CVs and MMA Attestation and say SVP mis en jour. It's to check that your details haven't changed ie address etc and if they have then the pharmacy/CPAM office will update the details on the Ameli system for you.

It had me wondering if it was some sort of scam because I see the doctor 3 or 4 times a year for painkillers and the pharmacy at the same time. So Amelie should not need to email me for the update if it is done during a pharmacy visit.

On several occasions we have had to update our cards when visiting the pharmacy - which they happily do on the spot. So no it does not (always) happen automatically.

As far as I'm aware, in the twenty years we've had CV's we have never been asked to update 'em.
Been asked a few questions at the desk when getting blood tests & present it to doctor & pharmacy every 3 months during/following checkups but don't remember ever specifically being asked to update it.

You don't update it (although I think that possibility might be there in some big pharmacies), the counter staff do it. They probably have just never mentioned it.

That's what I said in my original response.
