Can anyone update me on the situation regarding the issue of these cards to us Brits with a CdS living in France?
We haven't had one since the UK stopped issuing us EHICs, and I seem to recall that they told us to get one from the French health service, and some time later Ameli told us go get it from the UK (Brexit?)!
I've just logged on to the Ameli website and having asked for a card have been told that the 'service est momentanément indisponible', which reads like a polite way of saying no, something else which rings a vague bell.
I have to confess to having lost track of it all since Brexit and Covid.

I've had no problems getting CEAM's from France. Are you registered via an S1? Could that be the issue?

Explained at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/healthcare- ... guadaloupe

If you have a UK S1 then, depending whether it was before or after the Withdrawal Agreement, you will get a UK-issued EHIC or GHIC for travel see

Thanks for the replies. I came here 26 years ago, and I can't recall ever having an S1. However, my wife has an EHIC issued by the UK govt. that's due to expire in 2025, so I'm wondering if I had one at the same time and mine has got mislaid. Strange, because I'm usually very careful about such things.

I'll go to the link that elsie has provided and take it from there.

Thanks again.

You didn't say how you are getting your health care in France. You will get an S1 if you receive a UK state pension. https://nhsbsa-live.powerappsportals.co ... 1285/en-us

If you have worked in France and receive your health care that way then you should get a CEAM through Ameli. Have you tried again to see whether the 'service est momentanément indisponible' was correct and it is now working?

We have S1s and renewed our EHICs a cople of years ago, easy to do. I have also wondered about CEAM as I occasionally get reminders to obtain one but haven't bothered to investigate as I have presumed we are covered by our EHICs.
