A place I always dread being dragged to is the hospital at Saumur, but according to the ambulance drivers, it is the nearest place, so it must be there. Sunday afternoon, felt a bit queezy, ended up toilet hugging, and copious amounts of blood brought up, ambulance - urgence, left for a couple of hours, in what appeared to be a low bake oven, before doctor arrived. No drink as it may make me vomit again, it was a nightmare, eventually wheeled out in the corridor where it was a bit breezy and where I was to spend the night, well I don't know WTF was going on it was like a Christmas party, shouting, laughing and god knows what, absolutely impossible to get any sleep whatsoever. Morning changeover produced noises of bottles being transported away, and me being taken to a specialist who rammed a duckbilled platypus down my throat, so as he could tell me nothing untoward happening in my stomach. The place is more akin to a zoo.

Sorry you had to go through that Hughnique. Certainly sounds awful.

Seems most hospitals, the World over, offer similar experiences. I don't think anyone sleeps in the hospital, unless drugged out of their minds. I never quite get why everyone (hospital staff) has to make so dam* much noise all night long. And why patients are forced to be parked on a hospital bed in a corridor is another question. Are there really no rooms or even curtained, partitioned areas ?

I've taken my mother to the E.R. in the U.S. more times than I can count on two hands. And, for the most part, the experience was similar, only the wait to be seen was, on average about 6 to 8 hours.

I hope you will be able to see a specialist to look further into what happened to you. Hopefully, it will not happen again.

Well I must have been lucky - both my recent experiences in St Yrieix and Lausanne were more positive - maybe as I was still walking. I would rate both equally - so there are very good French hospitals out there.

I am trying to sort out treatment now in UK - in one of the worst RAAC hospitals - now that is going to be fun!

I have had very good treatment in Angers, but as said nearest hospital, couldn't wait to get in that bed last night. I just cannot understand the level of noise going on in there and as said why leave you in a curtained off area adjacent to the doctors station when there are plenty of proper cubicles available round the corner
