Changing Mutuelle

#1 Post by Headers »

Well I’ve been and gone and done it. After 14 years, I’ve finally moved to a new mutuelle.
The change in the law has made it much easier to do.
I just hope the change kicks in on our ameli account. I shall be keeping an eye on that!
As far as I can see, I have found exactly the same cover for 100 euros a month less.
I have on numerous occasions tried to get my old company to reduce the charges but always got the Gallic shrug and apology.
So we’ll see if I’ve made a terrible mistake or a great saving.

I used to be with AXA but they started getting dearer, so changed to the CA with Pacifica, then find out we are covered for hospitalisation but not any surgery, I have been mulling over another provider, but never seem to get round to it. You don't seem to be able to negotiate with them. We are both 100%, the mutuelle never pick up anything for medication or doctors and specialists visits, blood tests, all covered by CPAM, but we still pay the rate that others without the 100% do. It seems they all have their different 3 or 4 levels of cover and it's a take it or leave it attitude.

Done and dusted within two months from our Dr phoning up the surgeon.

Although not in France I do know of an English speaking insurance broker that comes highly recommended. I wouldn’t give the details on the open forum though

I didn't mean that we pay for medication and all the rest of it, it's all paid from CPAM I cant remember the last time we went to the docs and had to divi up 25€, which was then reimbursed 70% by CPAM and the rest by the mutelle. I had both cataracts and an ingrowing toenail done last year and had to pay what the excess met by the CPAM covered, I think from memory the three procedures cost me a total of about 200€, however when questined, CA Pacifica, said I could increase my cover and of course the monthly amount, but the increase would far out way, the 200€ I had paid. Trouble is painful shoulder that clicks every now and again, clicky hips, all seem to bode at major intervention in the not too distant future. CPAM set the levels of payment but none of the surgeons stick with that it's always 150 or 200%.

My current mutuelle has never let me down apart from costing too much!
