We bought this day trip on a special offer last year. Fortunately it's valid for another 6 months or so Traveling on the "Fast Cat" to Jersey is always risky at this time of year as they cancel if there's the slightest risk of a sea that's not flat calm !! Two sailings a week at the moment and then down to one. From mid December until something like mid January, there aren't any at all !!

Sounds great, if I lived closer I'd be up for that, never been to Jersey though I sent my late brother there with a load when we had our transport company. That was before Transport Manager licensing came in but when it did I was able to use that one journey as proof that I had International experience and got the new licence without a test. This came in very handy in later years as a manager and, as a result, I retain a great fondness for the place.

Have a good trip, hope the lights don't go out with France threatening to cut Jerseys power due to the on going fishing row with the UK.
Loved Jersey, first wife and I spent our honeymoon there back in 61.
But it seems to have gone downhill, once again money wins and people don't.

[mention]Doug[/mention] Thanks Doug - we love Jersey too but if you went back there you'd see some changes. If our trip's cancelled, it won't be the end of the world. We'd also booked a short stay there last year until Covid put paid to that - another special offer. Normalement it should be honoured but goodness knows when we'll be able to take it up.
We're getting a PCR test at the centre where we work before we go though we'll probably need another on arrival in Jersey as they require nose and throat swabs which the French don't do. I will have to take a load of paperwork to prove my maiden name (birth certificate, marriage certificate etc). Complicated or what ?

Ha ha grapes out apples back. But I always thought of Pulleyns as rather posh, mainly machinery, movers. But the apples are right enough, that was my only cargo when I worked for Gauthier here and they sent me to England. Always empty back though, couldn't find anything the French wanted.

As we seem to have gone off on a tangent about Jersey - here's my input! Older brother lived and worked in Jersey for many years when I was younger, so I enjoyed several "holidays" over there, camping out in his rented accommodation. I had to pay for my keep mind. For a while he had a delivery lorry business, frequently crossing to SW England, and taking stuff to and fro. I accompanied him on one occasion, the lorry already loaded at a Devon port (Weymouth I think), so I didn't know what was on board. After enjoying the Lorry Drivers' supper and accommodation, we started work at 7am on a bright summer's day in Jersey. First few loads of unloading furniture to private addresses went ok - I learnt a lot about getting big furniture into awkward places, for sure! By mid afternoon, I was seriously flagging, it was hot, and the last delivery was ....... a dozen or so (unused!) coffins to the local Funeral Director. The pun that it nearly killed me carrying these things is an understatement - one of them almost claimed me! What a lovely start to a holiday!

The lanes in Jersey are very narrow (a bit like Devon) and although we enjoy taking the bus, it can be pretty scary !
