As students, we had a technique. Build up the sides of the bowl with lettuce leaves first, then fill. Great value to a student on a grant. Not sure I could (or would want to) manage it now.

I can suffer the likes of Rick Stein as his, and some others present are what I would term as a travelogue where you see a bit of wherever he is filming and surroundings.

I think that's the student cantilevered technique...
One of my daughters used to hang around with a gang at lycée. They'd drink at a bar where one of them would order a beer. When it arrived, the rest would whip out their straws...
