Demi, I agree with you completely, a fridge in Paris or Los Angeles is not exactly next door. But perhaps I should scale back those somewhat far-fetched suggestions to something more within reach, just a few simple examples.

For the $16 they paid for a ham roll I could have a sit down multi-course meal with wine at a formula resto in Brittany. And I could park outside for free. Some people must live in a parallel universe.

Hotrodder, you forgot to include the price of that return flight ticket from LA to Paris in your calculation, as well as the hotel costs...There is a section of the younger generation that is almost blindly following not their own discoveries and common sense, but the almost compelling recommendations on social media. These determine the compass course. And as soon as you see a long queue of people waiting outside a shop, you immediately know what time it is: influencers time.

The best Jambon Beurre sandwich is the one I'm eating at that moment as long as it's not made with one of those spikey baguettes that threaten to lacerate your lips the moment you attempt to eat it.

You're so right RA. The other side of the coin is that one negative comment on social media can sink a restaurant so if an influencer didn't like some aspect, none of the sheep would go there and try for themselves.
