I’m off to Australia via Singapore in February and need to set up some insurance. Has anybody had to do the same and any hints and tips would be appreciated.,

Have you enquired at Ameli and your mutuelle, Dave? I'm sure you can extend the cover overseas, but whether that applies to all countries I don't know.

We went to W.A. back in 2009 and our mutuelle wouldn't cover us because cpam didn't cover OZ.
Took out insurance through maaf where most of our insurance is.
Cost an arm and leg. We were going again in 2020 but covid put a stop to it
Now being over 80 its totaly imposible,

I finally opted to do it through my Amex card using AXA. Not the cheapest but I know I’ll get good service through Amex and it’s pretty comprehensive coverage.

I remember in the "old days" flying from Thiefrow (wasn't called that then), there were coin machines to buy travel insurance for 2 shillings a policy.
