Because I signed a contract for Orange Fibre on 16/03/2022, when they approached me to replace our ADSL connection with them, and the price I paid was €49,99 per month. I had been paying €39.90 for their Livebox service.
That is €10.09 per month more by my calculation, and €30 per month more than we pay for our 4G connection.

You don't say how much you paid. Maybe you were already paying over the odds.

Incidentally, they continued to charge this for the next four months, in spite of not connecting us. I gave up trying to get the contract cancelled and finally obtained a refund through their Service Recours Consommateurs, but was charged the standard fee for cancelling the contract.

Currently, the cheapest offer for a fibre connection where we are is from Free, which costs €29,99 per month for the first year, increasing to €39.99.
This is €20.00 per month more than I am paying for our 4G connection, which is a significant amount to me, and which I call more expensive.

@Nomoss and

We pay 50.99€pm for TV, Internet and landline. When we were using ADSL it was 49,99€pm. It went up by a euro after a couple of years but that would have happened if we were still using ADSL.
The installation was free of charge as well.
What are you looking at, just internet?

We pay €31.98 a month for ADSL internet+landline+one mobile (no TV) with Sosh.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

I have just been oranged…..My brain hurts.
Finally we could connect the fibre. 2Hrs on the internet arranging a contract and RDV for the lad to cable up from the pole. Annoyingly we would have to have a new telephone number and could not keep the landline number we had. Now I would assume that taking on a new fibre contract would have annulled the old ADSL and landline contract automatically. Silly me.
Looking on myspace on orange, I saw the I had 3 contracts running. I set out to the orange shop and took the old ADSL livebox to hand in and sort out the contracts. They refused to take the livebox and said I should bring the return form that they send by email to me.(which I have never had) Oh it would take a couple of weeks before I get the email form. Also the angry looking lady said that she could not cancel the contracts. Fortunately an English speaking lad took over from her and the lad helping us could cancel the landline and ADSL contracts there and then and by the way, we could keep the old telephone number.
Different answers both on the internet site and between assistants in the shop.
Might be worth checking if your old contracts are still running.

When fibre was being installed in the village, Orange arranged a presentation day at the salle des fetes. We were each seen individually and the benefits and costs explained. We could keep one of our two numbers, the VOIP number which we never used or the landline number. The costs would be slightly less than our then current contracts -2.98€ less per month. We might be double charged for landline and fibre in the first month but this would be automatically adjusted the next month. In fact that never happened. We would receive an email with a shipping label to return the old livebox. I have to say the whole process could barely have been smoother with the only slight niggle being that the installers arrived in the afternoon when they were supposed to arrive in the morning but they did have the grace to phone and ask if that was OK before arriving. If that were ever only the biggest issue with suppliers I would be a much happier man.

This replaces the vignette and (apparently) necessary in case the plod want confirmation. The vignette was about an inch square opposed to the memo which is on A4. Where's the logic?
the logic is that YOU have to print it off, there is no coloured paper, no postage, ergo THEY are saving money and YOU are spending money on printing etc.
Having printed it off the insuance ompany have now posted a hard copy to me. I rest my case.

I have been wondering about this very issue. I have nothing to show the cops if I get a pull. I have been meaning to go into my broker's office to find out but so many other more pressing issues seem to get in the way of yet more bl**dy French paperwork. And at the moment I am waiting for a response to my request for a RDV at my local tax office.

All insured vehicles are online to the cops so they just use your plate to check if you’re insured. You shouldn’t need anything else, unless you’re not insured or they haven’t got your car on the register yet. I have a copy of the assurance memo on my phone just in case, I certainly ain’t going to print it.
