I continue to be annoyed about the level of cost for ordures ménagères that I pay considering I now have to take my household rubbish ( and there isn’t much) over 2 kilometres to the nearest point de tri.
I am paying 2 euros a day for that. Which is what I was paying when the dustmen collected it from the house. Absolute rip off.

I came on to post an article from Connexion exactly about overpaying for bin collection - maybe some posting on here can recoup some of the cost - I know some of the amounts mentioned over the past couple of years are eye-watering compared to the amount we used to pay:

Ours hasn't gone up since we have had a change of company. Before we did have general rubbish collected from a common bin for the hamlet, but not tri, for that we always had to travel about 2.5km, I have three platic bins that I fill, and every 2-3 weeks i go and empty them.

Since the change here, we now also have to take general rubbish to a bin the same place as the tri, and are allowed 26 30l bags a year, but they have changed the tri to now include anything that is any sort of packaging, becouse we compost lots, hardly anything goes in the general bin anyway.

I think last year we only used the general bin about 16 times. But my wife is vegetarian so we dont have much in the way of food waste.

Regarding the tri, I dont believe all of it gets recycled as such, but gets sorted and non recycle gets incinerated, which is better than before, when people either didn't bother recycling becouse they were either too lazy and couldn't be bothered, or were confused about what could and couldn't be recycled and were putting the wrong things in, meaning that it all had to be sorted anyway. So personnelly i am not that unhappy about the change, regarding the charge, yes we lost the bin collection, but the sorting of the tri has got to be more labour intensive, or better automation, and more is being recycled.

For us, although the bins being 2.5km away, it not an issue for us as we live in a dead end, so we have to go past them if we go out anywhere anyway.

And I can still go to the dump with the bigger stuff without problem.
