Because I signed a contract for Orange Fibre on 16/03/2022, when they approached me to replace our ADSL connection with them, and the price I paid was €49,99 per month. I had been paying €39.90 for their Livebox service.
That is €10.09 per month more by my calculation, and €30 per month more than we pay for our 4G connection.
You don't say how much you paid. Maybe you were already paying over the odds.
Incidentally, they continued to charge this for the next four months, in spite of not connecting us. I gave up trying to get the contract cancelled and finally obtained a refund through their Service Recours Consommateurs, but was charged the standard fee for cancelling the contract.
Currently, the cheapest offer for a fibre connection where we are is from Free, which costs €29,99 per month for the first year, increasing to €39.99.
This is €20.00 per month more than I am paying for our 4G connection, which is a significant amount to me, and which I call more expensive.
