Taxe Foncière goes up

#31 Post by tagh »

Regrettably there is little oversight on the spending of communes or justification for the increases; locally here they are decided by the community of communes which is far away the groundfloor of spending or voting. Decisions are taken by the local mayors together. My feeling is that this can lead to irresponsible spending and a spirit of ‘we must have a rise’ without real justification.
Mayors decide for their own commune then a decision is taken for the community of communes and a single bill sent out. Barely democratic imnvho.

Some Mairies seem to get as much money as they can - then dream up absurd ways to spend it.

I am thinking of the unnecessary development of St Yrieix marketplace as an example.

My father's house in St Y - sold for €80K - TH and TF together were €4K - yes, 5% of the property value.

They are what I pay.
Humanity landed on the moon over fifty years ago but it seems too much to ask for a reliable telephone/internet service in rural France.

2022 379 euros, 2023 406 euros. Bin/dechetterie 108 euros. Our house 175 m2, garage 20m2 & 1 outbuilding 12m2 - I'm very happy with a 27 euros increase. However we do live in a small house with a small garden in a village with no amenities and not forgetting that we live in the a**se of France

That is most definitely not a small house. Ours is 108m2 and it is regarded as 'not small' 😉

This article is worth a read if you have the patience and does explain at least some of the heavy increases this year:
