Only taken with my phone, so not a great photo. Maybe all our super photographers can get a good shot?

Ooh, I'll get our son on the case - he's the keen astrologer in this house!

I took this last night at 22:50
I went out at 22:30 to take some photos as it was getting dark and noticed a bright satellite crossing above the moon. Unfortunately I didn't have time to take any photos of the two.

I've just checked on Stellarium and it was the ISS. If you use your imagination you can see the centre and solar panels either side in this very tiny crop

Apparently it's visible tonight too - between 22.00 and 04.50. A comet is also due to be going across, but not visible to the naked eye.https://www.tf1info.fr/international/qu ... 25913.html

Fantastic photos Elsie, I'm sure I've asked before, apologies for asking again, do you use a telescope with a camera or a powerful camera and lense?
My OH has a Nikon but he can't get a photo as good as yours, he only has an ordinary lense and a zoom lense.
Sorry Elsie, just seen details of your camera

The lens is just a non-professional Olympus ED 75-300 mm f/4,8-6,7 II zoom, and nothing really special in terms of quality.
The problem is getting the manual focus correct - autofocus doesn't give as sharp an image. The camera has manual focus assist and magnify options. The focus point changes with the zoom which isn't a problem for most photos when using autofocus. But I set a zoom focal length and then go through the focus assist making sure I don't move the zoom. After that it is just a matter of setting the timer option to take the photo (I use 12 second delay to allow tripod vibration to cease or use a wireless remote shutter release. I also use the bracketing option to take a series of photos at different exposures. So I probably took over 80 RAW images last night at various focus and exposure settings and then just selected a few RAW from the rough JPGs to process.
