I'm finding this interesting - it's a bit long so if you're interested, you might like to have a cup of something whilst watching it.

From Arte in English.
From an incredibly varied selection of 19th century postcards, the Paris of the Belle Epoque (1871 – 1914) comes to life. Street-photography captured Parisians from all walks of life and conveyed the optimism and elegance of the period.

Fascinating Char, I'm only halfway through, much to do at the moment, but I will return to it though I found the speed of the run through was too much for me. I wanted to linger over the individual frames longer. Will have to get the pause button in action when I return. :)

I always find old films and photography fascinating. Like Spardo I've watched just over half and the rest to follow.

Paris, everyday life in la belle époque. How to feed all those Parisians and the many visitors? A year to remember, 1889. Also because Léon Lhermitte was chosen to create a monumental painting for the Hôtel de Ville in Paris. The painter proposed a modern subject, the supply of goods to Les Halles, thus overturning the tradition of allegorical decor. When visiting le Petit Palais I made a snapshot of Les Halles old style.
