Interesting Old Buildings

#1 Post by Oldblueraincoat »

Discovering old, abandoned or interesting buildings is always fun and can make great pictures - there are so many in the SudOuest - here are 3 to start us off.

Superb - I can't say I've seen anything quite like that here but that's probably because I haven't looked hard enough ! This forum really does present photos well - and I'm looking at them on a desktop screen !

Thanks Blaze - l agree about the picture quality on the site if only l could find a way of downloading my pictures in a format that l could post them direct without having to resize them - more research needed methinks.

Here are three more buildings - The Watch Tower at Chateau Portets on the banks of the Garonne. An elaborate pigeonnier in Sainte Radegonde and a decaying mill of some kind in Les Landes. l'm fascinated by these remote chimneys.

This amazing old house named 'Triton' in Saint Symphorien has since been repainted in a very dull grey:

The halles in Gontaud de Nogaret are stunning:

This old sawmill fell into disuse and was recently demolished - l am pleased to have photographed it before that happened.

Magnificent OBR, love your images. Do you use any post filters, some of the skies are dramatic.

Looking at the watchtower I see many in the vinyards around here (Bourgogne), I must stop and get the camera out next time I'm on the Route des Grand Crus.

Agree. Really interesting photos of what I suppose we would call shabby chic buildings - full of character.

Hi Mysty, do you have any idea what it is? We have something similar in Villandraut

There is no indication what it's use is and it sits in a small public area. This one however is a Public weighing station and with a little research and a lot of help from Madame OBR discovered they are called Bascule Public used for weighing livestock and produce.
