There was talk of a rift between the older generation landed Tories who have their snouts in the trough and the newer generation who think being an MP is a full-time job and £85K is an adequate salary.

It is the latter category who are more likely to lose their seats - and give BoJo the heave-ho if he looks like losing them their seats in 2024.
