One thing the vaccine does not do is provide an armour around the body to stop the virus from entering the body. For the vaccine to work, your body has to be invaded by the virus.
Does that mean we all need to catch the virus?

Only if you want to and even if you do, the immunity that that would confer would also be time sensitive.
