It’s about time we raised a toast to all the classic cars still on the road. With or without alcohol – the choice is yours. And should it ever come to the point where the internal combustion engine is completely banned, we’ll just get on our bikes from then on. What could be more environmentally friendly than that? As long as you don’t ride an electric bike, but let’s leave that discussion for another time.

Two rugged Scandinavians, a 1977 SAAB and – load it up – a 1993 Volvo Estate (240 Polar) for DIY enthusiasts. A car that still has proper roof gutters, which in this case support five roof crossbars. All solid stuff from Sweden. And, of course, a tow bar. What will it be this time: a few long beams, sand and cement, plasterboard, a set of kitchen cupboards, a fridge, a table, removal service? Of course, the professionals drive around in something a bit bigger and newer, but they, too, are generally white in colour in France.
