Dear friend, I think they might be a bit too big for you... let's have a closer look. Ready for action: for some reason, the pair always kept a close eye on the kitchen and especially the refrigerator.

THE BEST BIT OF CHRISTMAS
With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine.........The Corpse Bride

THE BEST BIT OF CHRISTMAS
December 23rd is a day we always enjoy together, our wedding anniversary; we usually have a very good meal at a favourite pub or restaurant and a walk in the countryside.
On Christmas Eve we enjoy the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols from King’s College, Cambridge, while maybe wrapping the last few Christmas presents.
This year our family Christmas will be this weekend, as our sons will be spending Christmas with their in-laws, so we’ve booked a couple of days over Christmas at a very comfortable hotel not far from home, in Hampshire.

Taj mahal in Béziers for us, its our usual haunt for Christmas day, unless its a monday, they dont open on a monday.Hotrodder wrote: ↑Thu Dec 18, 2025 11:25 am For many years I wanted to avoid the excessive roast blowout that is known as Xmas dinner. I thought it would be nice to go to an Indian restaurant instead. For various reasons I never got my curry. The best bit of the whole thing is when it is over.
I do love L-g's post about the dogs. They are a wonder during both good and bad times. My best friend never complained at having to live in an Austin Montego estate for a short time, and she never complained about whatever was offered as a meal. Life without a dog is empty.

THE BEST BIT OF CHRISTMAS
Aah...carols. About the only thing I miss about an anglophone Christmas. There's such a rich repertoire of English and Irish carols that the French don't seem to have - a view shared by a French musician friend who spent years living in the UK, so it's not just me. We used to go to the cathedral in Winchester for the Christmas concert - magical. Now I have to make do with the CD.

THE BEST BIT OF CHRISTMAS
Lovely photos RA, real heartstring tuggers.
We do have the reactions of the new Boy to enjoy this Christmas. He is three years old and we are his fourth home. He has only visited the other house in Autun once, and then only for a couple of days but we will pass New Year there. He is a real "Glass Half Full" dog and fascinated by staircases like this one to the Tower at the other house. Breaking news is that he and the saluki (same age) have bonded ............... we now have two mad dogs spinning around us! We hope he quietens down again after the celebrations and becomes the calm, loving border collie we were getting used to.

THE BEST BIT OF CHRISTMAS
We've got an old CD which we play every Christmas. Whilst I play carols on the piano, they sound much better on my old keyboard which has an organ option. Played through the sound system, it sounds like being in a church !!
I used to play the little organ for the Christmas Eve service in our village church in Dorset. There was one service where I dropped the hymn book on the keys and it made a screech. I then got the giggles .....
