I’m not sure that moderately priced, hotels and Scandinavian countries can be found in the same sentence. Having said that an old school friend rode up to the Arctic Circle on his motorbike a few years ago and found lovely, very reasonably priced accommodation via Airbnb.

I couldn't think of a polite way to say that. As for what are they like I also wanted to add hotels are built of brick and stone and glass and usually have a sign saying Hotel on them. :D but didn't want to offend.

They are not cheap and on a double bed you will find two duvets a little larger than single size. Cafes and restaurants also have blankets on the chairs on the terraces.

I can also recommend the coffee houses. Inside for entertainment watch the customers removing several layers before they sit down.

Cakes are brilliant too.

Nothing is cheap or moderately priced and alcohol gets more expensive the farther north you go.

Pop in on Denmark on your way, it is a beautiful, friendly place and enjoy the bicycles in Copenhagen. Then cross the Oresund bridge into Sweden, fabulous.

@ Spectrum, I've been there, in Norway, in 1976, younger than today, camping sites. The only thing I can do, as an appetizer, is a look at the Peer Gynt mountain road and the scenery somewhere up North. I had a toolbox with me, maintenance and British made cars........

Summertime direction Trondheim:

Mountain pas, lucky us, first day of the season, the day before it was closed......

Some roads were rather narrow, where eagles and Rovers dare to go.....

That’s posh, it’s a TC. As a child I was driven for thousands of miles across Europe in a (non TC) one of them. We always went south, never north.

DominicBest, driven around in a simple Saloon? Indeed, a twin SU carburettor, difficult to tune. And a not very reliable straight-four 2000 engine, not the V8 and not the 2200.

Nice pics RA, hire car? We plan to go next September, last two weeks first two of October, we have a new Hilux, so fitting it out over the next year, better lights, tyres etc, we are debating to take a caravan or use hotels, both have their pros and cons, not all hotels are brick www.treehotel.se on the edge of the circle, only tricky bit the DW is disabled but according to the website they have a electric stair, thanks for the input, think I will e-mail their tourist offices in London se what help they can give me, but as said long time off yet.
