Does it have to be in ££ .. the tax-free, soc. contrib.-free accounts Livret A and LDDS offer 3% .. the LEP offers 6% .. but it depends on the amount you are talking about as the upper limit for a Livret A is 23 000€ each, for a LDDS it's 12 000€ each and for a LEP it's 10 000€ each.
Nothing to declare and no tax to pay. Each being you and your wife.
That LEP was one the CA woman spoke about, yes 10K€ each, I am sure she quoted 6%, if you leave it for 18 months, she said you will get 600€ interest, but that's not 6% is it??

With that grasp of figures perhaps she shouldn't be working in a Bank.
Though .. as Interest is only paid at the end of the year and you leave your money in for 18 months then you will receive 600€ at the end of the 1st year and then have to wait to receive the 300+€ at the end of the second year .. so she might have a point.

I've just had a look too. They're no longer offering the 1 Year Fixed Rate Account. Strangely, it doesn't appear in the 'withdrawn' list either. I got one just in time, it seems. Apologies to Hughnique for mistakenly getting his hopes up  Unless it's absolutely imperative to keep the money in £££££s, though, the LEP, LDDS and Livret A are by far the best bets, as no fiscal implications for French residents.

There are revenu fiscal de référence (RFR) income limits which you have to be under to apply for a LEP; below 21,393 € for a single person or 32,818 € for a two-person household - see https://www.service-public.fr/particuli ... oits/F2367 for the full list of different quotient parts.
