This type of info seems to BOOST his popularity with his followers. As he said, he could shoot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue in New York and get away with it. At this point, I believe him.

I agree this does appear to be so up til now but I feel that anti-Trump feeling is slowly gaining more and more ground.
As more shady stuff he was/is involved in is being uncovered his 'power' is diminishing. Besides which some/many of his dodgy 'friends' have met their come-uppance he must be starting to feel a bit isolated.

His statement might not carry as much weight in a country that didn't have such a love affair with guns. I can only assume it is a cultural trait left over from the Wild West days when a gun was the accepted way to settle an argument. 8-) Just a theory.
