Sadly I think the older Russians, having been brainwashed all their lives are not the ones who will want change. It will be the young ones that have been looking beyond their borders at the modern world.
Humanity landed on the moon over fifty years ago but it seems too much to ask for a reliable telephone/internet service in rural France.

So, seven months down the road of this barbaric murdering manslaughter by a deluded evil (can't even call him human). Russia is in chaos as their good people try to escape and evade being called up as cannon fodder. The Putrid himself is still of the opinion his country is in danger of attack (as he now thinks the parts of Ukraine he has "conquered" are Russian), so is threatening the world with nukes.

Is he crazy enough to press those red buttons?

I suspect his mate Xi is advising him somewhat strongly not to do so.

Will he listen?

Will his generals follow any "launch" instructions knowing the consequences?

I am not planning to clear out my bomb shelter this weekend.

I don't think he has the buttons. He has the codes to sent to the control centre - would they obey him? - who knows

No country has said it wants to invade Russia, it's just a pretext used to drum up support for the 'special military operation'. It's quite clear that despite the clamp downs on foreign news, social media and the like that the more "thinking" members of the population and those who have access to the outside world don't want war : Invading another country is hardly protecting Mother Russia.

The problem in Russia has to be sorted out from within and it's a question of how and when those who surround him turn against him. Much of Russia's military is outdated, badly equipped, badly trained, with old and badly maintained material. Using cannon fodder will achieve nothing except increase the slaughter. The threat to use nuclear force is all the madman has but it might be the tipping point, particularly if his "pals" are advising him against it.

Roll back 105 years - it was the mass slaughter of poorly equipped Russian troops in World War 1 that lead to the 1917 Russian Revolution.

Careful now. No need to get historical. 8-)

And look how well that turned out for the Russian people.

We all think (hope) that when he is deposed or suffers some life terminating illness, a new more enlighten force may come. In reality there are many, many right-wing nationalists who would take up the flag.

Yes - alarmingly he has poisoned or jailed most of the moderate opponents - and fearful of the right-wing extremists he is trying to appease them with his mobilisation and maintaining the war.
