5th wave spreading lightning fast across France
Olivier Véran is giving a press conference tomorrow midday (Thursday) when he will announce further measures to be taken to combat the spread of the virus.
https://www.ladepeche.fr/2021/11/24/5e- ... 947953.php
* Renforcement des mesures barrières : masque, aération
* Renforcement du pass sanitaire : mettre davantage de contraintes sur les non-vaccinés que les vaccinés[/b]
* Accélération de la campagne de rappel vaccinal
Unsurprisingly, more pressure will be placed on those unvaccinated to be vaccinated

I don't know many people who are holding out against the advice to be vaccinated. Naturally, I haven't quizzed them as to their reasons, but from what they've said, they have not convinced me one jot that they hold any sound, justifiable, compelling reasons for their refusal. In fact one, who was the most convinced of his decision, had his first jab last week. I haven't yet asked what convinced him to change his mind. I'm just glad he's done it.

I think in the early days there were so many conflicting stories doing the rounds that some people did not know what to believe so believed nothing.
But I must admit France has got it more right recently than the muppets here have. And I do wonder had Covid been more like Spanish flu - affecting younger generations most - whether we would have seen better discipline and slower spread?

But we all know that the little buggers are the biggest carriers of bugs of all types.

@Veem We had quite a number of people in for their first injection, mostly younger and middle aged adults, just a couple of teenagers. We were very pleased to see them and made their visit as welcoming as possible. One or two had made previous appointments but lost their nerve at the last moment.

That was exactly my thought at the beginning of the pandemic .....

In the absence of M. Macron, Olivier Véran will give an announcement today at midday on new measures to combat the 5th wave.
It's expected that these measures will include a third dose (eventually) for everyone, and that the delai of 6 months will reduce to 5 months (great for us because it means we can have it before Christmas) (info from BFMTV).
Other possible measures :
Reduction in validity of a PCR from 72 hours to 24 hours (probably for practical purposes/number of people wanting to be vaccinated)
3rd dose to be had within 7 months after the second dose to retain validity of PS
Classes in maternelle and primaire won't be closed systematically after the first infection. Pupils testing negative can return to school.

Shouldn't protecting yourself, masques, jabs etc, be your first priority rather then worrying about what others are doing? At some point the world will open up again, covid or no covid.

Your mask protects others - others' masks protect you.
So you do have to worry about others' behaviour to protect yourself.

Of course - everyone should take personal responsibility to protect themselves.
The very nature of the work we are doing brings us into contact (not physical) with infected people. What other people do also concerns us so there is insistance on masks, distancing and disinfecting hands.
Yesterday one of my colleagues (a young chap in a wheelchair) was verbally attacked by an anti-vaxxer who objected to paying for a PCR test. We hope the situation won't get worse if the measures to be announced today include a reduction of PCR validity from 72 to 24 hours.
