@Blaze we get quite a few of these in the garden - I had no idea as to their name but when the sun shines on them they are lovely the black bees as well are beautiful but I've not been able to get a photo as they don't stay in one place for long and then buzz off too quickly
With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine.........The Corpse Bride

Wonderful, @Mangetout - they're the Epeire diadème, it's quite a common garden spider. I've never seen the babies for real but I recognise them from photos (taken loads of the adults though !).
I've googled it in English and it seems to have various different names .....

They were gorgeous, little golden balls scrambling around every time I blew into their nest. The photo was taken a few weeks ago, they were on my young courgette plants which were waiting to go outside into the veg garden. The next morning they were gone.

It's very sad :
Both males and females typically die shortly after mating. The baby spiders hatch within a couple of weeks, but remain inside their egg sac until winter is over

It's hard to resist Mr Jay who comes here most mornings and evenings. He lets me get surprisingly close ...

Ladybirds a-plenty here - I wish they'd eat the blackfly ...

It is not the ladybirds that eat the majority of the xfly (x = Green, black and white), it is their nymphs.

I rarely see the nymphs, but judging by the corpulence of the adult ladybirds, they feed well !
