I glanced out of the window just now and saw this beautiful sparrowhawk. He was hanging around near the bird feeders .....

Beautiful birds.
Some while ago we came across one just sat in our garden either injured or exhausted.
We picked it up, put it in a box with some raw meat pieces & left it in the barn to see what happened.
A few hours later it was more active & the meat had all but disappeared, so, we took it into the stable & left it on a beam near the entrance.
The next morning the bird was gone so we assumed & hoped it was OK.
That afternoon we were sat on the terrace when we heard a bird calling. Looking up it was a sparrowhawk sat on our roof looking down at us before flying off.
Was it 'our' bird who'd come back to thank us? Dunno but I'd like to think it was. :)

Thank you, all ! I happened to glance out of the window when he was sitting on a bush eyeing up his next meal .....
We have had at least one sparrowhawk in the area for 3 or 4 years and he pops in from time to time, very recognisable in flight. Sometime we hear him on a summer's evening, a mournful cry....
