Having said goodbye to both our dogs last year, we've always said that a dog (or two) would find us.
It seems to have happened. We had in mind a female Border collie, possibly even a pup. What seems to have found us is an uncastrated 2 year old male Australian shepherd :o
We met him this evening and the current seems to have passed. His owners say we tick all the boxes - they're a delightful young couple. They have made the heartbreaking decision to re-home the dog because he gave a couple of young children a warning nip. Many dogs have a personal bubble and don't like a human face near theirs. It's likely that the children annoyed the dog and not recognised the warning signs.

It's clear the owners adore the dog and he seems to love them. He's seen a behaviourist who says the dog is very well-balanced and confirmed that the dog's reaction was probably due to human error. We're going to have to make the handover as easy as possible for him, with some training sessions with someone who already knows the dog. Understandably, the owners say whilst they'd love to hear how he's getting on, they would find it too difficult to come and see him. The owners will come over next week with the dog so that they can see where he'll be living.
The say he's no longer allowed to sleep on the sofa .....

What beautiful colouring. Let's hope it's not too traumatic for him. As you say, it's not his fault. I'm sure lots of love will settle him. Good luck, let us know how you get on.

What a beautiful dog! Hoping all goes well at the handover and that we’ll see and hear how he gets on.

My, what a stunning boy. Is that a small sofa or is he really big?
