After all this time of cutting down of things causing climate change.
Cutting out petrol and diesel cars and many more, restricting central heating systems.
Now what do we hear? Suddenly all food production/storage uses CO2 and firms will go out if business because of a shortage of it.
Every package you open puts CO2 into the atmosphere.

Cola - requires CO2 to be injected into the liquid. When the cola supplies start to run out in McD or Tesco the brown and smelly will certainly hit the rotating ventilator.

The natural generation of CO2 is a process that has been going on since before life on Earth and recent levels have formed the "equilibrium" that had become the modern environment. It is only the consumption of fossil fuels that has created an imbalance in the equilibrium over perhaps the last 200 years. The most obvious consumption is the conversion of fuel to energy but chemical processes such as that used to create Ammonium based fertilizers also create CO2. If that gas can be used before being released to the atmosphere I guess that is something of a small positive. The problem is that the interconnectivity of our activities means we become reliant on that supply.

Perhaps to add - and for the benefit of the "I am so glad I don't eat meat" brigade - it is not just meats that are packed under a CO2 atmosphere. Bags of vegetables from lettuce leaves to pre-washed carrots, pizzas, chicken Tikka masala or cabillaud parmentier etc are all likely to be packed under an inert/modified atmosphere in order to prolong the shelf life.

Apologies, the comment was not directed at anyone here in particular. There are however those elsewhere who will revel in such shortages since they will stop other people eating meat.

No need to apologise, I did give you a wink to show I was just playing.

We have a soda stream so each time we use that I suppose we're putting co2 into the atmosphere.
Maybe we should all stop breathing.

I was told vegetarians fart more than meat eaters. Brussells sprouts, cabbage, etc. so let's not go further down the Co2 rabbit hole.

Instead let's force the countries that are destroying the forests wholesale to stop doing it. And make air travel a lot more expensive to stop unnecessary long distance travel burning up fossil fuel by the tonne. I'm guessing that all this Co2 used in packaging, abbattoir stun guns, and other industrial uses ends up escaping into the atmosphere. Hands of my internal combustion-engined car. I doubt if I burn more than one tank of fuel in an entire year.
