I hear Sir Keir Starmer has assembled his first cabinet within 24 hours of becoming PM.

That's about how long it took me with the last one I bought from Ikea.

It's BBQ season again . . . so here are the dozen stages:

1. The wife buys the meat, dessert and the salad.

2. The wife pops back out to the shops for last minute forgotten items like charcoal.

3. The wife makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert.

4. The woman marinades the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the husband who is waiting eagerly beside the grill – beer in hand.

5. The husband places the meat on the grill

6. The wife then goes inside to organise the plates and cutlery.

7. The wife then comes out to tell the husband that the meat is burning. He thanks her and asks if she will bring him another beer while he deals with the situation.

8. The husband takes the meat off the grill and hands it to the wife.

9. The wife prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table.

10. After eating, the wife clears the table and does the dishes.

11. Everyone praises the husband and thanks him for his cooking efforts.

12. The husband asks the wife how she enjoyed “her night off.” And, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there’s just no pleasing some women.

I've just got a fancy new BBQ with extending legs and I have to stand on a chair to use it. I do worry about falling whilst trying to use it.

The steaks have never been higher.
